3rd October, 2013

Daydream Education Pocket Posters hit the spot with Madeley Academy’s Targeted Student Intervention Programme

Students at Madeley Academy are supported with a range of resources from Daydream Education, including our extensive range of posters and interactive computer software. In particular, our Pocket Poster Books featuring mini versions of our highly acclaimed posters have been of great help in students making progress at this successful Academy in Telford, West Midlands. Targeted intervention students in English and Maths in Year 8 have benefited from our pocket sized poster resource. They contain the very best of what we do in an easy to read format with lots of visual stimulus helping to underpin learning.

At Madeley Academy, Teaching Assistants work on the front line in collaboration with Teachers and are a driving force in the success of their students. It was one of their Teaching Assistants who first considered how Daydream resources could help after being passed some pocket posters after a colleague visited the Bett Show last year at the Excel Centre in London.

Fiona Maiden, Teaching Assistant said, “Each student is given an A5 pocket display booklet which contains individual target sheets for English and Maths. The Daydream Pocket Posters slot into the A5 pocket display booklet along with other materials including a reading log, book review sheet and a mathematics times table. The folder is an ideal size for the student, and fits perfectly in the new Academy Bag carried by the student at all times during school.”

The results speak for themselves. All forty students on the intervention programme achieved a level 4 in English and Maths by the end of Year 8 with the majority increasing more than 3 sub levels. The students are still using the Daydream Pocket Posters during lessons in Year 9 to help them in their work. They are positive about the Pocket Posters, saying that they help a great deal with their work in class and especially with their homework.
